As ‘n gestuurde – hoe gee ek uitdrukking daaraan in my elke dag se lewe?

Met watter verantwoordelikheid en “commitment” leef en demonstreer ek aan ‘n wereld en omgewing die verandering wat Christus in my lewe kom doen het.

Jesus was anders.

Fil 2:15

Sorg dat julle bo alle verdenking staan en opreg bly, onberispelike kinders van God te midde van ontaarde en korrupte mense. Tree onder hulle op as ligdraers in die wêreld.

Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night….

Rom 12:1-2

En nou doen ek 'n beroep op julle, broers, op grond van die groot ontferming van God: Gee julleself aan God as lewende en heilige offers wat vir Hom aanneemlik is. Dit is die wesenlike van die godsdiens wat julle moet beoefen. Julle moenie aan hierdie sondige wêreld gelyk word nie, maar laat God julle verander deur julle denke te vernuwe. Dan sal julle ook kan onderskei wat die wil van God is, wat vir Hom goed en aanneemlik en volmaak is.

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Conformed beteken - to conform or fashion one's self, one's mind, one's character to another's pattern

Paulus se eintlik – moenie so gemaklik en tuis wees in die wêreldse kultuur dat die andersheid nie sigbaar is nie.

Metamorpho – waarvan ons die woord metamofose kry – dit beteken leterlik - "to change into another form"  

"to undergo a complete change, which under the power of God, will find expression in character and conduct" - Vines

In Mat 5:13-16

“Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.

“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

Die vraag wat saak maak is nie of ek invloed het nie – maar watter soort invloed? Positief of negatief.

Ons ken almal die kenmerke van sout:

• Preserveer
• Reinig
• Dit maak jou dors
• Maak gesond

You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept.

‘n Stad op ‘n berg kan nie weggesteek word nie – ‘n mens steek ook nie ‘n lamp op en sit dit onder ‘n emmer nie.
